Look up!  What do you see?  What can’t you see?  Bubbles, balloons, and moon boots!  In the Air will explore form, function, and flight this summer at Anoka County Library.

Float into Summer Reading Bubble Festival

Join us to explore the Science of Bubbles! We'll create different shapes of bubbles using fun techniques and household items; you'll even get to stand inside of a giant bubble!

In the Air: Hot Air Ballooning

Learn about various aspects of ballooning, including its historical link to Minnesota and the scientific principles involved. See a demonstration on how the balloon functions. If weather permits, the balloon envelope will be inflated its full height. While at the library, walk the Storywalk featuring The (Mostly) True Story of the First Hot Air Balloon Ride.

Solar Printing

Let the scientist in you soar with this fun activity where art meets science. Using ozalid paper and natural materials, the sun helps you create unusual print designs in just a few minutes. Then you frame your favorite design. For kids in grades 1-5.

"With so many great programs at Anoka County Libraries this summer visitors will never run out of things to explore and learn about," said Anoka County Board of Commissioners Chair Rhonda Sivarajah. 

"In the Air offers kids a creative way to explore art and science,” said Library Board President Bob Thistle.  “It taps into our natural curiosity of space and nature."

These free programs are sponsored by the Anoka County Library and funded with money from Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
