The Looney Lutherans at Rum River Library

Date: Mar 1st, 2014

Live at the Library presents the Looney Lutherans at Rum River Library on Saturday, March 1, for two shows at 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.

“Hot dish, casseroles, potlucks and church basements are all synonymous with Minnesota and the many Lutherans who call it home,” said Anoka County Commissioner Matt Look.  “Whether or not you’re Lutheran, if you’re a Minnesotan, you’re certain to laugh!”

The Looney Lutherans use music, comedy, and some help from the audience to share age old wisdom for living a long and healthy life…the Lutheran way!  (But you don’t have to be Lutheran to love ‘em!)  The fun, interactive, family-friendly show includes a variety of segments on healthy living the Lutheran way, including discussion of the Lutheran “food wheel” (all roads lead to hotdish), a performance of the Lutheran food rap (Eat Like a Lutheran), and helpful beauty tips (using items from your very own kitchen).  Their show last February drew a standing room only crowd that had everyone laughing and asking when they would be back.

“Everyone can use a break from the winter cold,” said Library Board Vice President Melanie Keister.  “Join us for a light-hearted look at Minnesota’s heritage.”

Both shows will feature the same content. The programs are free and open to the public, but seating is limited. The Looney Lutherans are presented by G.L. Berg in partnership with MELSA, and the program is funded with money from Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund. Rum River Library is located at 4201 6th Ave in Anoka.  For more information, call 763-576-4695.
