Live at the Library presents Orkestar Bez Ime at Rum River Library on Saturday, April 5 at 2:00 p.m.
Feel at home with the varied rhythms of the music of the Balkans. This music comes from a cultural area that includes Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia, Montenegro, Macedonia, Kosovo, Albania, Turkey and Greece as well as Jewish and Gypsy folk styles. Join Dee Langley, as she leads this professional Balkan dance band, to learn more about the culture, music, and dance styles from this area.
“It has been said that cultural music can be as informing as a history book when you listen closely,” said Anoka County Commissioner Robyn West. “The rhythms and notes convey triumphs and tragedies and this performance will have it all.”
“Every song tells a story,” said Library Board President Bob Thistle. “Bring your family to learn more about the music and stories of this region of the world.”
The program is free and open to the public, but seating is limited. Rum River Library is located at 4201 6th Ave in Anoka. For more information, call 763-576-4695.
